Dragon's Glass

Heart & hair of gold
Tongue of silver
Ivory her bone
Eyes of pearl
& obsidian obscure

Emerald pulsing
Apple my eye
& Eve, fangs deep
Fit for communion,
Fought nor fled

From crystal prisms
Fractured rainbows flow
Like ruby cells
Set in bloodstone
Diamond minds stow

About the Writer: Capitalizing on his quarter life crisis, Joe Parrish is taking a leap of faith, transitioning from copywriting to teaching English. Though the advertising industry shut the door on his foot, he continues to bubble with ambition, however amateur — we all have to start somewhere. Like Dickinson, he writes poetry to confidants for nothing more than a heartfelt beat. Though loved ones lobby for his relocation, he takes pride in a bedside window framing the Library of Congress and the Supreme Court — monuments of knowledge and justice. It's no coincidence he feels strongly about applying what you know.
