[Verse
1]
He was a poor boy,
Living out a bad dream.
He was a poor boy,
Living out a bad dream.
He
was some kind of orphan,
Living in an alley off a side street.
Living in an alley off a side street.
He
said, “It’s kind of hard to breathe
When you’ve got nothing to believe at all.”
At all.
When you’ve got nothing to believe at all.”
At all.
[Chorus]
I
said we’re all still trying to be more.
Break free of the cause we’re fighting for.
Break free of the cause we’re fighting for.
We
all just gotta learn how to fly.
So, if you leave here, don’t forget to say goodbye.
So, if you leave here, don’t forget to say goodbye.
It’s
getting harder to fly.
[Verse
2]
She
was a beauty queen
With confidence up her sleeve.
With confidence up her sleeve.
She
thought she had everything
But never had a reason to bleed.
But never had a reason to bleed.
But
I know it breaks her back
When she’s forced to face the facts each night.
And that ain’t right.
When she’s forced to face the facts each night.
And that ain’t right.
[Chorus]
I
said we’re all still trying to be more.
[Bridge
x2]
You
said you would never leave me,
So what are you doing now?
So what are you doing now?
[Chorus]
I
said we’re all still trying to be more.
It’s
getting harder to fly.
It’s
getting harder to fly.
